After that eventful lunch with Toe, Verns, Sngl & Annamanila, I got the recommendation of switching over to Smartbro, so that I can finally get back to my online life (and my blog). So I happily went off to the Smart center at SM North Edsa and happily paid the subscription fee.
Things went on smoothly at the start. The linesmen went to my place over the weekend and installed everything. I was so excited that I started texting everyone left and right that I was gonna be back online soon. To my dismay, they couldn’t get my connection up. They kept on insisting that they had to automatically detect the settings of my connection protocol, when in fact that was what wasn’t working in the first place.
Grrrr… they claim that they don’t have a master list of different addresses to give me, but they have the same list to give to PLDT myDSL users! Then the guy from customer service says: “Sir, kung di po maayos, i re refund na lang po namin yung pera nyo.“Gaaagh! Why are some people just plain <insert cuss word here>?
This is torture… *sob*

Oh Prab… that’s really too bad! We miss you in the blogosphere. I know it must be torture. But once you get your internet running, I’m sure you’ll be back with a vengeance.

Hey Prab, glad to find you back. Even if just to gripe about finding a good and dependable internet connection.
At least now we know you’re still alive, hehe.

Tsk tsk tsk. Hay naku, hopefully maayos na ulit, at nang makita na ulit ang presensya mo sa kamunduhan ng blag (ano ba yan, ang hirap naman tagalugin ang “blogosphere”).

I hope you can get this fixed soon. Btw, from what I heard, Bayantel is really good. Maybe you can consider them if things don’t work out for you with Smart.

@Jaypee
I used to be hooked up with BayanTel, but had it disconnected when I first tried to transfer to Globelines. I was waitlisted for DSL then, ‘coz there are no availabilities in my area yet. Now I’m back on their waitlist.
@Sngl
I already told them what the problem is (I used to work in tech support before), and that is to give me a working DNS server address. DNS addresses has to be compatible with the Gateway address in order to work.
I was able to pull up a working Gateway address (working ‘coz I pinged it and it’s working fine), so that wasn’t the problem. Thing is, they’re STILL insisting that everything has to be detected automatically.
They already bought a laptop (thankfully, ‘coz the first technicians actually had the nerve to ask me to BUY a laptop because I couldn’t get my hands on one), and it still didn’t work.
Just for a freakin’ DNS address and it’s taking two weeks. This is really insane.
@Gypsy, Mark, and Gaizabonts
Sometimes when bad luck happens, it pours (is there a saying to this effect? lol). Makes me remember on what I quoted in one of Mark’s posts, that everything happens for a reason. I wonder what’s the reason behind this?
@Everyone
I was planning on raising hell two days ago, ‘coz it’s been almost two weeks, but since it’s Holy Thursday, the mall was closed, and so was the SmartBRO office there.
Sorry if I keep on ranting, btw. I just miss everyone like hell.
