I saw Ellie in one of her moments of solitude earlier. Looking at her as she was drawing away, I was both awed and envious that she can come up with something original. I mean, I remember that as a kid, my dad kept on encouraging me to learn how to draw. Sad to say, I was either to lazy to attempt to practice how to, or I was too pressured to even try. The thing is, I was more interested in numbers, words and other things I considered then to have more practical uses. As a result, I didn’t really got beyond stick figures, or had the imagination to combine colors.

After staring at her artwork for a few minutes, I started to wonder how some people get to put both sides of their brain to good use. It’s said that left-brained people, normally right handed, are more inclined to be verbal and analytical, and would typically make good engineers. I more or less fit into this category, having first taken up Engineering when I got to UP. The right-brained people, on the other hand, are normally left-handed, are more inclined to creativity and pattern-recognition, and would typically make good artists and musicans. Now here comes the “weird people” like Ellie, who’re good in the verbal stuff (she’s can articulate herself rather well) and can put their imagination into good use. I wonder if this is going to turn into one of those nature vs. nurture things. So while I’m trying to ponder how this is possible, here are some of Ellie’s work. I hope you like it. :)
